Transitions
To Preschool
To support your child’s transition to preschool, we have an orientation program, Parent Information Evening (during term 4 of the year prior to starting) and a Welcome Evening (during early term 1). We start each year with extra teaching staff on board to support arrival routines and engagement with the program. Here is a social story that will support your child’s transition to our preschool.
To School:
Children who spend their preschool years at St Stephens Belrose Kindergarten are provided with every opportunity to develop the necessary skills (social, emotional, intellectual, creative & physical) to support smooth, successful transitions to school and to thrive in their new learning environment. Our aim for children transitioning to school is that they are happy and confident, having acquired solid foundations for life-long learning.
Our Degree qualified Early Childhood Teachers
will provide parents with professional guidance about their child’s school readiness.
We have wonderful connections with our local schools. Some of the schools visit us during term 4 to learn about the children that will be transitioning to their school the following year. This supports the schools preparations and decision-making in terms of forming classes and designating teachers.
Each child transitioning to school will receive an Individual Developmental Summary that is based on NSW Education’s “Transition to School Statement” and will contain detailed information to support their transition to school.
